How you can Help
Retina Australia (NSW) Inc (RANSW)
consists of a group of volunteers and supporters mostly affected by a retinal
dystrophy (degenerative retinal eye disease) who are fighting for sight.
We provide information about conditions such as;
Retinitis Pigmentosa (RP) and other related conditions and raise public
awareness of them.
We promote research into the causes, treatment and
prevention of retinal dystrophies through our genotype project. We
raise funds for these purposes.
Your generosity enables us to continue our fight against
retinal eye diseases. Retina Australia (NSW)
provides funds for research through a competitive grants policy. Funds
are provided for research into RP and related conditions. There are a few dedicated
researchers in Australia and overseas probing the causes of Retinitis
Pigmentosa. In recent years their efforts have contributed to our
understanding of the ways in which it is inherited. Much more work is needed to
find a treatment to cure or prevent the progression of these
sight-destroying diseases. Retina Australia (NSW)
provides detailed information to the newly diagnosed and their families
and friends. Peer support is offered at the time of diagnosis and as
sight deteriorates as well as regular updates on the progress of
research worldwide. We are able to offer information about necessary
services needed by each individual person affected.
Funding for
RANSW comes primarily from our members and supporters. We rely on the
generosity of our donors and volunteers to continue operating to the
extent that we do. Become a member and receive quarterly newsletters informing you of
helpful equipment to updates on research and many other issues
affecting vision impaired people.

Leaving a gift to Retina Australia (NSW) is a unique
way to mark your life and demonstrate your commitment to giving adults
and children the brightest possible future.
Although most of us prefer not to think about death, it
is simply a fact of life. If you make a will you know that your wishes
will be respected. You should obviously look after family and friends
first but your Will could also help us to continue our fight against
retinal eye diseases. Large or small, your gift is essential and much
appreciated.
Retina Australia (NSW) advises anyone who wants to
make a Will, or amend an existing one, to see a solicitor. Leaving a
gift in your Will can have a lasting effect on the lives of adults and
children in the future and is a way to ensure that part of your life’s
work lives on.
If
you are arranging a funeral, you might feel it is appropriate to ask
friends and relatives to donate to a cause your loved one believed in.
Making a gift in memory to Retina Australia (NSW) means you can
celebrate a loved one's life by supporting something important to them.
Every person should have the gift of sight. In making a donation in the
memory of a loved one you can help us to continue our fight against
retinal eye diseases.

day at work? The options really are endless and a lot of fun, you can
help us raise vital funds too.

CELEBRATION WITHOUT GIFTS
Instead of receiving a gift for your next celebration why not ask your
guests to make a donation on your behalf to Retina Australia (NSW).
Some celebrations may include birthdays, weddings, christenings,
anniversaries, etc.
RANSW will provide you with envelopes with details on them such as the
name, address and amount provided on them. All you have to do is hand
them out with your invitations and then collect them at the function and
then donate the completed envelopes to us. We will provide your guests
with a certificate of appreciation and a receipt for the amount
donated. We will provide you with a letter of thanks with the amount
raised on your special day.
